WalkUp Songs — Privacy Policy

WalkUp Songs ("the App") is a walk-up song player for youth baseball and softball teams. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the App accesses, how it is stored, and what is shared with third parties.

1. Data We Collect

The App does not require account creation and does not collect personal data for its core features. The free version of the App displays banner ads served by Google AdMob. Third-party advertising partners (including AdMob) may collect or process certain data to provide and personalize ads, such as device identifiers (e.g., advertising ID), IP address, approximate location (derived from IP), and app usage related to ads. See Section 5 for details and links to Google's policies.

2. Anonymous Analytics

The App uses TelemetryDeck to collect anonymous usage data. This helps us understand which features are popular and improve the app. TelemetryDeck is a privacy-first analytics service based in the EU that is GDPR and COPPA compliant.

What is collected:

• Which features are used (e.g., game started, inning break played, song source type)
• General app events (e.g., app launched, onboarding completed)
• Non-identifying game data: player jersey numbers, team theme color and icon choices
• Song metadata: song titles, artist names, and start offsets chosen for walk-up songs and inning breaks — used to improve our curated song catalog
• Device type and OS version (collected automatically by TelemetryDeck)

What is NOT collected:

• Player names, team names, or any personal information
• Your Apple Music or Spotify listening history
• Location data
• Advertising identifiers

TelemetryDeck uses a privacy-preserving identifier that cannot be traced back to you. No cookies or tracking pixels are used. You can disable analytics at any time in Settings → Advanced → Help Improve WalkupSongs.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following information locally on your device:

• Team & player names — names you enter for teams and players.
• Song selections — references to songs you pick from Apple Music, Spotify, or text-to-speech phrases.
• App preferences — settings such as playback duration, stored in UserDefaults.

This data never leaves your device except through iCloud sync (see below).

4. iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud in the App's settings, your team and player data is synced via iCloud Documents to your other devices signed in to the same Apple ID. This data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can disable iCloud sync at any time in the App's settings.

5. Apple Music & MusicKit

The App uses Apple's MusicKit framework to let you search for and play songs from Apple Music. Song searches and playback are handled entirely by Apple's services. We do not access your Apple Music listening history or library.

6. Spotify

If you connect a Spotify account, the App uses Spotify's Web API to search for songs and control playback on a secondary device. The App stores your Spotify access and refresh tokens securely in the device Keychain. We do not access your Spotify listening history, playlists, or profile beyond what is needed for search and playback. You can disconnect Spotify at any time in the App's settings.

7. Advertising

The free version of the App displays banner ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use certain data to provide personalized or non-personalized ads, including:

• Device identifiers (e.g., advertising ID)
• IP address
• General location (derived from IP)
• App usage data related to ad interactions

You can remove all ads by purchasing the "Remove Ads" in-app purchase, after which no advertising data is collected.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is designed for use by coaches, parents, and families. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Ad serving in the App is configured to comply with Apple's guidelines for apps used by families. TelemetryDeck analytics are fully anonymous and COPPA compliant.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
